WebXCope Service™
Overview

WebXCope™ is a beta level online service brought to you by Jenner Research. It is intended to show one unique way to open up broad internet content for small networked devices equipped with standard browsers without the need for expensive content redesign. The objective is to present essential part of generic web content for users while minimizing two dimensional scrolling overhead.

The technology (patent pending) developed at Jenner Research performs simplifying, splitting, and scaling operations against desktop oriented web content to fit in client devices. It preserves principal elements and presentation components from the original document, including text, hyperlinks, images, forms, two dimensional navigation order, as well as dynamically generated parts. The transcoded results are encoded in XML compliant HTML.

In addition, each oversized document is broken down and organized as a mini web site on the fly. WebXCope™ uses its proprietary virtual layout algorithm to size the underlying document and determine whether and how it should be scaled and/or partitioned to be client device friendly. Partitions are ordered and hyperlinked in a hierarchical manner according to the original document structure.

Current international character set support includes western alphabets , BIG5 (traditional Chinese) and GB (simplified Chinese). Additional i18 support (e.g. JIS and EUC-JP for Japanese) will be available in the future.

Usage Guide

This service is available to PDA or cellphone users with standard HTML or XHTML browsers. It is not intended for regular desktop computers to access simplified web content.
