What is the difference between Use above settings and
Use my settings ?
Use above settings adopts a simplfied version of
customization corresponding to simple settings. On the other hand,
Use my settings applies full settings based on
user customizations stored in browser cookies and WebXCope servers.
Why should I register to WebXCope service ?
As form factors, browser characteristics, network environments
and target contents differ, it is normally needed to
tune the engine for best result.
Only registered users could permanently store
customized device settings in their user profiles.
Device cookie could also hold updated settings, they
are, however, temporary in nature.
What is the link [+] ?
An oversized content will be broken down into multiple
sub pages by WebXCope. These pages will be ordered according to the
original content layout (left right, top down) linearly.
The next page relative to the current one is linked by
[+].
What is link [-] ?
Similar to what described in last answer, the
previous sub page is linked by [-].
What is link [^] ?
When an oversized content is broken down by WebXCope service
into a set of sub pages, an hierchical relationship is established
to preserve the original content layout structure. The parent
page of current sub page is linked by [^] following
this hierarchical relationship.
What is link [<<] ?
When a link is clicked to direct browser to a new URL within
WebXCope service and the target content is oversized, it will be
partitioned into multiple sub pages. At any such sub page,
it is possible to go back directly to the original referer
page (not among sub pages) through this [<<] link.
What is link [1] or [2] ... ?
Each link points to a sub page partitioned from the original
content. The number indicates its sequence order assigned
among all sub pages.
What is a link like [abc jpg](11k)?
When configured with image mode minimum or off,
an image would be displayed in two parts, the first
one indicates any text information about this image
(in this example, abc jpg) and
another one the actual link to the image (in this
example, 11k). The text is extracted from original
image tag. The number shown in the actual image link
is approximately its size in pixels.
I don't see images, how do I turn them on ?
Go to [Preferences] link on top of a transcoded page
, select On for Image option, click OK and
Continue button and back with new content display
with image turned on.
How to remove images ?
Go to [Preferences] link on top of a transcoded page
, select Off for Image option, click OK and
Continue button and back with new content display
with all images reduced to hyperlinks.
How to reduce horizontal scrolling ?
Go to [Preferences] link on top of a transcoded page
, reduce the Display width index value, click OK and
Continue button and back with new content display.
If the setting has image turned on, make sure the Character number
calibration value is properly set for the display device.
Alternatively, reducing the Character number calibration value will force content to fit in limited horizontal space. If the Display width index value is properly set, Character number calibration value will not affect the size of images shown.
Try several different sets of values to get the best result.
How to adjust content size of each page ?
Go to [Preferences] link on top of a transcoded page
, change Page size index value and click OK and
Continue button to see the effect. The higher the index means
the larger each partition page will be and vice versa, in most
cases.
